Has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! inspired you? Smyth Performance is pondering designing a Subarute kit once they finish their current Audi A4/S4 project. They were going to do the BMW E39 (another awesome choice), but they’ll bump up the Subaru if the interest is there. A !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! will let them know.

I’ll be sticking with my Jetta, since I already own it. But yeah, Subarute...

So much why here. I mean I get these customazations elsewhere, but Subaru actually built a ute. Why not just buy a Baja?

I like the Baja. Really. But its “bed” was just too small for any real truck-like use. Here you lose the back seats but gain more bed, which is what the ute is supposed to be all about.

No word yet on whether BRAT style seats in the bed will be offered. :)

I can dig it. As long as p, like the VW kits, you can’t build it off a sedan, I don’t want to see any wagons die here.

I’m building mine off a sedan. I specifically avoided wagons, because wagons rule. Though I might swap wagon rear springs into mine to lift it a little.

My brother in law Did that with his Mk4 Jetta, specifically the Wagon tow package spring and struts.

Yep - that, plus VR6 springs in front (mine’s a 1.8T) is my lift kit. I just don’t want to go too crazy on the rear springs. The Ute kit removes 200lbs from the back of the Mk4.

And the question becomes how much will I get crucified for chopping a 540i Sport Manual? lol

200lbs thats a serious weight reduction

Yes, it is! Which is why I may skip the towing springs.

Only the Mk4 gets that weight reduction, though. The Mk5 is where VW started some major weight reduction, and the finished Ute weighs about the same as stock. Same for the Charger.

According to Google Translate, “die Straße.” Just FYI. ;)

That translates to “the street”

Technically a more betterer translation would be “Der Weg”
